E01
Is there an E01 error code displaying on your Lay-Z-Spa pump? This means your Lay-Z-Spa pump is experiencing a water sensor issue.
We recommend following these troubleshooting steps until the error code stops displaying. Then you'll be back in your Lay‑Z‑Spa in no time.
Step 1 ‑ Check water flow sensors
This error is caused if the water flow sensors are not in the correct position. Please follow these steps to resolve this, making sure you leave 10 seconds between each step:
- Turn the pump off using the On/Off power button on the pump display. Remove the plug from the socket.
- A) On external pumps - remove the pump from the spa liner by placing the stopper caps over the debris screens inside the spa. (You will need to remove the filter housing first).
B) On built-in UltraFit pumps, step 2 is not needed. - Strike the pump firmly on the side.
- This should move the sensor into the correct position
- Plug the spa back in and reset the pump.
Please note: Do not hit the pump on either the top or bottom of the unit.
If this does not resolve the issue please move onto step 2 below.
Step 2 ‑ Check for debris build up
Another cause of this error code is a debris buildup within the pump. To resolve this, please follow the backwash procedure steps here:
How to backwash a built-in UltraFit pump

- Turn off and unplug the pump
- Empty the water
- Remove the filter housing and ChemConnect
- Unscrew and remove the two debris screens using the UltraFit Wrench tool
- Insert a hosepipe into one of the outlets and flush clean water through the pump circuit until it exits from the other passage. Do this for 2-3 minutes
- Then reverse the direction and flush back the other way
- Clean any debris or scale from the removable debris screens before refitting them
- Drain the flushed water from the hot tub liner, making sure no dirt or debris remains before a refill
How to backwash an external Lay-Z-Spa pump
- Turn off and unplug the pump
- Remove ChemConnect and filter housing
- Attach the black stopper caps over the debris screens.
- Disconnect the pump: Unscrew the pipe connections
- Insert a hosepipe into one of the small outlets and flush clean water through the pump circuit until it exits from the other passage. Do this for 2-3 minutes
- Then reverse the direction and flush back the other way in the other small outlet
