Tips for using your Hot Tub in Summer

Using your hot tub in the summer is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Who wouldn't want to make the most of the longer days and glorious sunshine? We have put together a few tips for you to make sure you get the most out of your hot tub in the summer months. Don't forget that all Lay-Z-Spas now come with Freeze Shield™ technology, so you can continue using your hot tub throughout winter too.

Keep On Top Of Your Chemicals

Keep On Top of Hot Tub Chemicals in Summer.

With increased use of your hot tub in the summer months, you're going to need to frequently top up chemicals to ensure your water stays clean and healthy. It is worth stocking up on hot tub chemicals long before you run out so you can continue to enjoy your Lay-Z-Spa throughout the Summer. From test strips to chlorine, the ClearWater chemicals range has everything you need to keep your hot tub water clean in summer and all year round.

Change your hot tub filters

Regularly change you hot tub filters to help maintain the quality of the water in your portable spa.

As with chemicals, heavy use of your hot tub will require extra care and maintenance of your filters. You will need to clean your hot tub filters regularly and change them to new ones frequently. Find out how to clean your hot tub filters here and, if you need to buy more, you can find them in our hot tub accessories.

Let some air out

This might sound a bit strange but the combination of the heat of the water and the heat outside can cause inflatables (and that means any inflatables - hot tubs, pool floats, paddle boards etc) to expand. Air expands as it gets warm and if it doesn't have anywhere to go then...

Shade from the sun

Keep your inflatable hot tub out of direct sunlight.

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can have adverse effects on your hot tub liner. It is also worth bearing in mind that we recommend you don't use your Lay-Z-Spa whilst wearing anything such as sun cream as this will impact your water quality. Shading using a large parasol or gazebo, canopy, or something similar, will not only protect your Lay-Z-Spa but protect you too.

Keep yourself hydrated

Stay hydrated when using your portable hot tub in the sun.

Hot summer days and soaking in a hot tub can lead to making you feel dehydrated and overheated so make sure you drink plenty of water. On a hot day, you should consider turning down the temperature of your hot tub or, if you want to keep it high, try and use it for only 15-minute intervals at a time.
