The official Lay-Z-Spa Descaler is a universal maintenance accessory that fits all Lay-Z-Spa hot tubs. It is designed to remove calcium deposits or scale build-up to improve the efficiency and prolong the lifespan of the heater pump.
Why descale a Lay-Z-Spa?
Over time, in many parts of the UK, water from the mains supply can create a mineral and limescale build-up inside any hot tub's pump pipework and heating system. If not dealt with, this can eventually clog up certain elements, cause water flow issues, and you might see small flakes or grit appearing in your hot tub water.
Regularly descaling a Lay-Z-Spa pump will remove any limescale, calcium or mineral deposits from the heater, circulation pump and flow sensor, and will allow your pump to work efficiently.

How to use the Lay-Z-Spa descaler:
- Disconnect the pump from the main hot tub. Except for UltraFit™ hot tubs, the pump stays in place - you simply need to use the wrench tool to unscrew the debris screens
- Connect the descaler to the water in and out pipes, following the instructions, with the correct adaptors.
- Fill up to the minimum line with your preferred descaling product. We recommend either a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar or the ClearWater Scale & Stain Controller.
- Screw on the lid to create a safe and closed water circuit.

Option 1: Do not activate the filter or heat and leave the descaling solution for a minimum of 3 hours.
Option 2: Activate the filter (but not the heat) and run for at least 30 minutes
Option 3: Set temperature to 30°C, activate the heater and run for at least 30 minutes (for this option, do not screw the lid on the descaler) - Unscrew the drain valve on the descaler to empty the liquid and detach the descaler. We recommend using a bowl to catch the contents of the descaler, as this will likely have scale deposits
- Use a hosepipe to flush clean water through the pump for 2 minutes.
