Level ground & floor protection

Your Lay‑Z‑Spa should always be setup on flat and level ground. If your flooring is uneven or not level, you could encounter issues of unequal water distribution and unequal pressure on your hot tub liner.

Using a Lay-Z-Spa Floor Protector protects the base of your inflatable hot tub and helps reduce heat loss. Reducing heat loss through the floor is more energy efficient as it lowers your heating costs by helping to maintain a steady temperature.

Shelter & windbreaks

To reduce exposure to the wind, which contributes to cooling, you should ideally position your Lay‑Z‑Spa near a windbreak like a wall or fence.

Using a shelter, such as a shed, gazebo or large parasol, will protect from the wind, rain, prevent debris falling in, give privacy.

It’s worth bearing in mind that you should also protect your inflatable hot tub from extensive direct sunlight too, so a shelter is a great investment.

Consider the weight

You need to consider the weight of your Lay-Z-Spa with water and people in it when placing your hot tub on surfaces like decking.

For example, the Miami AirJet™ which is a fairly average 2-4 person Lay-Z-Spa, weighs 696 kg (1,534 lb) when filled with water. Once you add the weight of two people, this increases.

Lazy Spa setting out tips

Electrical power & drainage

You will want close proximity to a drain when you come to empty your hot tub's water.

You also want to be close to power. Your Lay‑Z‑Spa comes with a 7‑metre power cable and you will need to be able to reach a grounded socket with RCD protection. Never use an extension lead.

If you don’t have access to power outside, we recommend getting a qualified electrician to install a grounded socket with RCD protection.

How to setup a Lay-Z-Spa

Setting up your Lay-Z-Spa

We recommend assembling your hot tub liner in a large open area and then moving into your preferred location. Any creases will disappear over a few weeks. When moving your inflated liner, never drag it on the floor and be aware of sharp objects, fences, prickly hedges etc.

Next, fill your Lay‑Z‑Spa with water up to the recommended level. You can use water from the hot tap to reduce the amount of time the pump takes to heat up your hot tub which means you get to use it sooner!
